So a generous friend recently sent me a big box'o'doll stuff, with a bit of cloth thrown in as well.
Cloth like this
Which I did use for a doll dress!
...but there was much more of it, so I used it for a shirt for me...
I decided to use Simplicity 2936 from 2008
I've used this twice before (and...thinking of it...one of those other times used cloth sent by the same person--thanks again, Mmy!) and I remembered it as fairly easy to put together, and, yep, it is! (The only tricky parts came from trying to work around a mistake I made in pattern matching across the front opening oops.)
I used view C...sort of, since I omitted the collar. (As with a lot of these "multiple variations from a single envelope!" patterns, there are a lot more combinations possible than just what's shown.)
Ah ha ha that's tacky.
But look at that pattern matching! I accidentally keyed off the wrong spot when cutting out the front pieces, so the pattern originally only matched when the folded edges were butted against each other. I compensated by re-folding things in a way that made the front a smidge wider, and I took that extra width out by increasing the depth of the tops of the seams where the sleeves attach to the front and back pieces. Raglan sleeves, yay.
The length of the tie pattern pieces worked out so that the print is repeated on each end. Nifty.
I might wear this tomorrow, and I might make an effort to take a picture.
And I still have about two yards of this print...
