Just a little thrift

Ventured to the out-of-the-way Goodwill yesterday, was confronted with a bin full of 49¢ patterns, managed to constrain myself to only four.

This is technically too small, but that can be worked around, of course, and I do admit I bought it as much for Pink Plaid Gal as for the actual clothing design.  Not only do I like the pink plaid + another pink plaid combination, but I also really like how her face is drawn and want to figure out how to paint a doll like that.

This is a simple pattern, and it's possible that, by the time the kiddo is himself large enough to fit into it, I'll have finally learned how to draft patterns, especially t-shirts .  But!  As things are now, I pretty much understand that, to have any men's pattern options beyond "no-yoke aloha shirt," vintage is necessary.  So, of course, finding a vintage men's pattern that is (relatively) timeless, and finding it for 49¢, is very nice.

This has a 1965 copyright, is anyone surprised?  Again, it's technically a bit small, but all those darts offer plenty of opportunity to let things out around the waist, plus whatever needs to be done at the bust.  If, of course, I ever get around to making anything with this.  Ahem.

This one, though, might be the next human-size thing I make.  I mean, yeah, sure, it's still high summer in Middle Tennessee outside, and even winters around here don't always lend themselves to lots of coat-wearing opportunities, but...coats are fun to make?

Plus, I got this cloth in the other Goodwill I visited yesterday

It's 60" wide and just shy of 3 yards.  I'm pretty sure there's at least a little wool in it, because my arm itched slightly while carrying it.  There's a thin synthetic knit scrim fused to the back for stability, too, so it should work well for that coat pattern, yes? (Although, the truth is, I want to make every outerwear-weight cloth I have into a motorcycle jacket, but, given the fact that I haven't even made one of those yet, I figure I should tamp down my enthusiasm for that line of thought.  Still...this giant purple plaid'd make one...ah...eye-catching...motorcycle jacket, wouldn't it...)
