You should have a good idea about the kiddo's taste in clothes at this point, so you know why I had the idea to ask him if he'd like a pair of shorts made from an incredibly loud print that was in the friend's relative's destash
I chose to use orange thread, because I could have used anything and had a nearly-full spool of orange Saba C 80, which is a nice weight for top stitching, and of course I do a lot of top stitching in the pants and shorts I make with KwikSew 2544.
Nothing out of the ordinary in the construction of these--I've made so many by now that I'm pretty good at planning ahead for any oddness that might happen.
This cloth is extremely high in synthetic fiber--maybe even 100% polyester, but it's a nice firm polyester, so it was really easy to work with.
As you might be able to see in the picture above, I wasn't paying attention to the print placement and ended up with the dreaded "the print pattern very obviously repeats on each side of the center seam" thing
While I had over 2 yards of this fabric, I didn't have enough to re-cut one of the back pieces, because...well, when I showed the yardage to the kiddo and asked f he'd like shorts made from it, he said, "Yes! And a jacket!" I said I wasn't sure if there was enough for both, but, there was! And so my next project is already cut out, leaving no yardage to spare for a do-over on the shorts back.
