Stripe Shirt

This project for the kiddo really was quick, in large part because I had cut out the pieces...um...a while ago (honestly? I probably intended it to be a shirt for me, so, yeah. a while.)  So all I had to do was sew.

Yep, just sew.  Not even a hint of using the iron.

Also, for me, the process was sped up by severely limited top stitching--once around the neck band and that's it for the whole project.

Faster finish aided a single line of stitching to hem the sleeves and waist, too, which I think I turned over twice before stitching (the kiddo is wearing the shirt now, so I'm not inclined to go check.  He's very ticklish.)

I must've cut things out carefully, because it was easy to align all of the stripes in sewing.

I did buy this cloth as yardage from a thrift store, but once I got home and started looking, I realized it was actually a...scarf? with a tag from one of those fast fashion mall stores.  If the person doing the sorting/pricing had realized it was a scarf, I probably never would have noticed it

The Child really likes purple right now, so I was happy to sew it for him.  He does like it, but it's not as appealingly appalling a mess like the last shirt I made 'im.

The pieces had been stored, for however many years, in a plastic storage bag along with these traced-off pieces that have "Modified Simplicity 8027" scrawled on them.

I have no idea what I did to modify it (and all you have to do is see Simplicity 8027 to know that I bought it for the moto jacket, which, so far, the kiddo has no interest in,and, even if he did, I don't know if I'd use that pattern, since it turns out the zipper is applied to the surface of the one side, and my brain says That Is Not How You Do It.  If he's ever interested in a moto jacket, I'll probably use KwikSew 3764.  For now, though: more mom-sewn knits are in his future.)
