I thrifted this very nice and Very Early 1990s cotton interlock knit a few years ago, despite it being mostly white. I don't wear a lot of white, because I am...accident prone.
But!
I wanted another long sleeve knit shirt, and this is a fun print, so why not.
I got New Look 6068 and used Stretch & Sew F832 as a guide for the longer sleeves, along with a bit of ribbing salvaged from a mass-produced t-shirt, and ended up with this
It's very straightforward, and, I admit, the reticence about wearing white led me to take some shortcuts, like not serging the seam allowances, as seen on the inside of the neckline
and definitely not pressing the sleeve caps
I did turn the bottom hem up twice, but the sleeve hems were only turned up once (following my usual practice of pressing before sewing the seam), and everything was also only stitched once.
Well...the hems were only stitched once. I did top stitch the shoulder seams twice.
You can also see that the ribbing seam is offset a bit behind the left shoulder seam, instead of being centered in the back, which is something I noticed that a lot of mass-produced t-shirts do. It seemed like a good idea to not have that seam in anyplace as obvious as the center, so I adopted the practice.
I might wear this tomorrow--we'll see how long it can remain unstained!
