Rhinestones and Adhesive

I have cut out pieces for a sewing project.  I have!  But I keep getting distracted by sticking rhinestones to things.

First, it was replacing the missing rhinestones in the brooches from the previous post, as well as changing the dangles on the bows brooch.

I knew I didn't have black rhinestones to match those in the flower, but then the light hit them just right and I realized they're purple.  I didn't have matching purple rhinestones, but I had roughly analogous purple rhinestones, so I went ahead and super glued those in place.  As always, no-one's going to get close enough to see the irregularities.

I did, however, happen to have a perfect match aurora borealis rhinestone to replace the one missing from the bows brooch.  I also have a small stash of vintage AB beads, so I chose one to hang from the center, with swagged chains on the outside.  I'm much happier with this than the original design.

But then

I kept playing with the rhinestones and larger acrylic craft gems and had some fun.

Textile Adjacent

I realized I could use the powers of the grommet press to add spring snaps to strips of leather to make wrist cuffs.  Consider these Proof of Concept.

Yes, most of these pieces of leather are left over from the purse I made a few years ago, plus one strip from a pack of leather scraps.  I may further embellish these in the future, whether I make more or not.

...although...I suppose I could try making some from vinyl too...

I spent time and used thread on this, so I'm posting it here

This was very much not a sewing project, but it did use (heavy, waxed) thread and it used up time that probably would have been otherwise spent sewing, so why not include it on this, my sewing blog?

Behold, a ghostly and green necklace!

Sparkle, Not Sewn

I spent a nice day sorting out my sequins and spangles

And then spent a while the next day hammering more holes into some of them as needed (I have a 1mm hole punch, which creates a slightly more elegant opening than just shoving a heavy needle through the plastic) then hooking those together with jump rings (which was not as much fun as it was to sort them out)

I still have plenty more to work with when the urge strikes.

Ooh shiny ✨

I also messed around with letter beads

Over The Hill is the one I actively like, Skeptic is OK, the rest went back onto the bead box (I already have a Memento Mori bracelet I like more.)  Sorting through my beads for these did finally prompt me to cull the beads I just don't like, so I guess I'm starting another pile of things to donate to the creative re-use thrift store.

They involved stitching, so...

The last week was mostly taken with making pins

First was this

 and then these

but the excuse for posting here comes in the form of these

which I machine sewed together at the tops and then hand sewed on pin backs.  So.  Sewing.
