I don't feel like there's much to say about this--it's the kind of basic piece that I tend to skip making, no matter how useful I know it will ultimately be, and that basic quality also means it feels like there's not much to stand out about its creation.
I had just enough of the thin black cotton??? left to squeeze out a heavily modified Burda7831, this time using the additional modification of omitting the darts, which I first tried last fall. Since I was doing pattern matching on that one, I did one more modification to omit the front band, but I made marks on my front pattern piece so I'd know where to cut for a band option, and that's what I did here.
It worked out pretty well.
There's really nothing notable about this shirt, because I've made front band, two part collar with a stand shirts so many times now.
The commentary is mostly on the little things that went wrong, like not noticing until sewing it on that one of the buttons in the set was actually a very dark green.
This picture is so over exposed that it looks like none of the buttons are the same color, but it's really not that bad in person.
I did have to cut the front bands cross grain, due to fabric limitations. I know the bands can be cut on the bias, so I figure the grain direction isn't a vital component of the bands' function.
As always, I pressed every edge before sewing anything together.
Cat hair! He's not our cat! But he has recently decided he's a lap cat, and it's still spring shedding season, so I've been bringing a lot of cat hair inside after going out and visiting him!
You can just see that I still have navy thread in my serger.
One of the other annoyances is that the back neckline didn't want to fit the collar band.
