This is, as far a I know, the last one! And I rushed it, of course, although not after vacillating over bodice fabric for a few days.
The skirt was this one, which I sewed in 2018 from thrifted wax print
Initially, I had picked out a lightweight aqua twill to use for the bodice, but the color match was Really Not Good, and there wasn't enough of it anyway. Then I considered using another wax print, but, for various reasons, no. Then, as I was falling asleep, I had the thought: A black & white print.
So.
Good idea? Enh. Finished idea? Yeah!
Since I was so ready to be finished, I went with the extended shoulder bodice of Simplicity 9153 instead of Butterick 6470 with the set-in sleeves, and I used the neckline and facings from Simplicity 8523/8061.
Once again, I pressed the sleeve hems while everything was relatively flat, before sewing the side seams--maybe I don't need to mention that every time, but, every time, I'm still so glad I thought of doing it that way instead of continuing to wrestle the completed sleeve around the sleeve board like I had done the previous decades.
I could have sewn closer to the pressed edges of the sleeve hems, but, again, I was aiming for just done more than well done. It's even from the outside, so that's good enough.
I also used the fabric as the interfacing again, and, again, I was rushing, so I cut both sets on the folds at once and didn't notice until after the shoulder bits of the facings were sewn that one edge of the back facing pattern had missed the cloth. I could have picked apart the shoulder seams and swapped the shorted part to the back, but...yeah, I didn't. I just zigzagged a bit to keep it in place and said good enough.
I am still not sure if this was an optimum print mix, but the fact that it's CMYK amuses me, and there's my whole "If you sew it together, it goes together" philosophy, and, most important, that box of skirts to make into dresses is now empty.
I have no idea what or when I'll sew next.
