This time with two thrifted skirts, because they're both on the sheer side (and they both originally had built-in slip layers, but I removed those ages ago so I could wear little petticoats under 'em)
And I also used the super simple extended shoulder bodice from Simplicity 9153, and ended up with this
I suspect it'll be more fun to wear than to look at
Nothing out of the ordinary in the bodice construction--
simple facings finished with serging (and yeah I still have different colors of thread in my serger), topstitched around the neckline, and stitched in ditch at the shoulder seams to tack down the facings a bit.
Sleeves finished by pressing the edges before sewing the side seams, then stitching the already-pressed edges in place after sewing and finishing the side seams
which is so, so much easier than manhandling the bodice around the sleeve board to press the sleeve openings after sewing the side seams. (And, yes, look: cat hair.)
The thrifted skirt used for the topmost layer had only one seam, so I picked it apart at the second tier and inserted a pocket bag into that and positioned it on the right side
because one pocket is better than none.
And of course the blacks really don't match, but that's OK.
This will probably be twirly fun to wear, and even more so in the autumn when I can add layers of leggings and socks and boots and a big scarf and a cardigan or jacket (all in completely different shades of black)
...ah...the dream...
